Chippy #1 or #2, I can't tell which is which, lol. We have several groups of these little striped creatures living around the yard. There's the Woodpile family, the East Porch family, the South Porch family, and this little one and his brother that live below that huge granite slab that is June's front step. They scurry in and out of the cracks betwee the slabs, and they love it when the plants on the step are watered and the water splashes down in between the stones, lapping it up. June sits out there quite often communing with them and feeding them, and while they're not exactly lap pets, they're not as scared of us as the others are. They're really adorable to watch as they play together, running from one bush to another, jumping over each other, disappearing down one of their holes and popping up another one. They stand up like Prairie Dogs also, sniffing and staring at us. I startled one in the Zinnias one day, and as he ran away from me looking for one of his many "entrances" in the ground, he turned around to see if I was following him and ran right into the granite slab. It was precious, lol!
I love chipmunks! Always so entertaining. Wish I could still move that fast....
ReplyDeleteCasey,
ReplyDeleteI love chipmunks. One never sees them in the city but we saw some in Maine.
Our next door neighbors, when I was a child, had a loose stone wall across the back of their property and it was a giant condo for chipmunks. I always enjoyed watching them frolic and play! They could be the cutest things ever!

Hi Chippy #1 or #2 welcome to Casey's blog. You are very photogenic.
ReplyDeleteCasey the Infiniti is back in the garage, gas tank topped off and clean as a whistle. Nice ride. Thanks so much for the loan.
Good rest of the day to you. : )
Remember Chip 'n Dale? They were always so polite.

I remember a Chippendale once too, but that's a whole 'nother story, lol.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't appreciate fine furniture...(smiley face)
ReplyDeleteI remember Chippendale's also, not just 'a Chippendale' should I be confessing that? Oh well, what goes on at Casey's, stays at Casey's, right!?!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely! at least until the book comes out, hahahaha. Don't worry, I'll change your name to Rutebaga Rita! : )
ReplyDeleteC. Too funny!!!! RR ;)
ReplyDeleteCOME ON CASEY, TELL US A STORY ABOUT CHIPPENDALE. WE CAN HANDLE IT. IS THAT THE STORY ABOUT A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK? LOL
ReplyDeleteTO ME THERE'S NOTHING CUTER THAN ONE OF THESE LITLE CRITTERS. ONE OF THE THINGS I LOVED MOST WHEN I'D GO CAMPING YEARS AGO [TENT STYLE] WERE THESE LITTLE GUYS. THEY ARE VERY ENTERTAINING.
GRAMPS JUST GOT HOME A LITTLE BIT AGO AND BROUGHT HOME FISH FOR OUR SUPPER.IT WAS GO AND I HOPE IT WAS SAFE TO EAT AS I'M SURE THEY BUY FROM THE LOCAL FISHING GUYS.
SOUNDS LIKE THE ATLANTIC IS STARTING TO GET A LITTLE STIRRED UP OFF AFRICA. THAT MEANS WE HAVE TO WATCH FOR THOSE HURRICANES THAT HEAD OUR WAY. I WENT THROUGH CHARLIE. BAD, BAD, BAD. SAY A PRAYER EVERYONE THAT THEY STAY AWAY FROM FLORIDA.
DO I GET HONORABLE MENTION IN YOUR BOOK? OR MAYBE YOU CAN DEDICATE IT TO THREE OLD BROADS AND A COUPLE OF GUYS. HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?
GRANNY
I"m sure your fish will be good! I asked about Gulf fish and shrimp at my store, and they didn't have any. They though I DIDN'T want any, but it was the opposite. I wanted to buy some to support the fishermen down there. We have so much local stuff up here though, I guess we don't get much from the Gulf.
ReplyDeleteI've gone through a few hurricanes up here too. Not fun! It's been a really quiet year though.
haha thats so cute! we don't have those in Australia.
ReplyDeleteThose claws do look like they could cause some serious scratching though. but stilll awwww look at that little chipmunky face.
Can you keep those as pets?
Hey Baji! I didn't realize you were from Australia! I knew Cameron was, but I guess I missed the memo on you, lol. I'm not sure if you could have a chipmonk for a pet. Maybe if you started as a tiny baby, and it imprinted on you, but I'd guess they wouldn't be very happy in an interior environment. They LOVE to dig deep tunnels. I imagine their underground network is similar to an anthouse, but much larger. They have holes all over the place. You'll see them run down one, and them pop up another one 20 feet away. These two though, have gotten used to our voices, and smells perhaps, so they're not quite as nervous around us. They'll watch us as we watch them. We have a little 'pool' out for them, a large dish really, but it's blue inside just like an in-the-ground pool, and they sit by it and jump in it sometimes.
