These vintage Christmas lights must have had a separate string of wiring that they plugged into. They date to the 1920s or early '30s and were on my mother's trees as a child. They're approximately two- to three-inches tall, or wide, in the case of the fish. There is one more, a red, white and blue dirigible, but it's drying right now. When I opened the box (not original) it was in three pieces. These lights are quite heavy glass, and it was easy to glue the pieces together. I'll scan it in a day or two and post. It's a pretty unique piece, as are all of these. Isn't the doll just a bit bizarre? I bet a tree covered in these lights was quite a sight to behold.
"If this is what it takes to be human, then I'd rather take my chances as a supernaturally-possessed doll! It's much less complicated! Think about it! What's so great about being human? You get sick! You get old! As a doll, I'm infamous! I am Chucky! The killer doll!"
ReplyDeleteSorry...did that just kill the Xmas spirit? lol
What Christmas spirit, lol?
ReplyDeletetalk about Chucky.... this Facebook page is for an old doll of mine I gave a great friend of mine, a film maker, Tom E. Brown. The doll's name is Sparky Harhala, and he's already been the star of a stop-action movie as a slasher doll!

I got this message when I went to Facebook
ReplyDeleteThe page you requested was not found.
hmmmm. I don't have a Facebook account, but the page that comes up for me has a picture of Sparky and a Log In page. The link is the same as in my browser.
ReplyDeleteOh well! I"ll find a photo of Sparky on my Hard Drive and write a post about him one of these day!
If you have a Facebook account, can you do a search for Sparky Harhala?
ReplyDeleteor Tom E. Brown? Maybe Bugsby Pictures.
Found Sparky Harhala. What a hoot.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I just finished watching a movie "Micmacs" by French filmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet. A satirical look at the global arms trade. If you can get hold of a DVD you will love it: It has it all art/colour/cars/ and chuckles. Made in 2009.
my parents bought Sparky for me back in the 1970s. I was a bit old for dolls, but they couldn't resist his evil/funny face. They bought him at a garage sale. When Tom saw him in my apartment 15-20 years ago, he was so taken with him I said "Take Him, lol." I'd love to get a DVD of the movie, I have it on VHS. Sparky is a serial killer in it!
ReplyDeleteCASEY, I ALSO FOUND IT ON F/B AND WROTE IT ALL DONE WHAT I FOUND ON HIS PAGE. THE GUY LIVES IN SAN FRANCISCO. HE SAID, HE RE LISTED HIS HOMETOWN AS YONKERS, N.Y.. HE'S IN A RELATIONSHIP BUT SOUNDS UP AND DOWN.
ReplyDeleteWHEN I POSTED IT FOR YOU I LOST IT.SORRY.

I found it Granny. Tom is a good friend of mine. I think it's hysterical he set up a Facebook page for a doll I gave him!
ReplyDeleteThese figurative Christmas light bulbs are quite valuable to collectors. Even the fused ones which can be cut open and have new smaller lamps or leds inserted into them. They look magical when lit up and I have a large and growing collection. I also convert them
