Froggie Facelift
I decided to give one of my vintage garden frogs a quick facelift yesterday. This little guy was dark green for most of my life and about ten years ago I painted him dark purple. Looking at him recently I realized he really needed a fresh coat of paint to help preserve him—little cracks had appeared all over him and he was crumbling a bit underneath. My aunt Hoohoo was adamant about painting these little outdoor gems every year to protect them from rain and weather of all sorts, but I haven't been as dedicated. Of course, most of them are kept inside away from the elements now, but still, I should be more careful with them. I gave this little frog a nice thick coat of lavender paint and then spruced him up with black and silver polka dots and salmon-colored eyes the same shade as the house is painted. Although it's raining and dark out today, he's looking really bright and happy this morning!
I can tell that his is VERY happy. Quite the in color for frogs this year, or so I hear from the frogs down by the pond - "it's not easy being green".
ReplyDeleteNice one, Annie! : )

Thank you, Katie! I think he really likes his new look. He was almost glowing this morning in the clouds and rain, lol!
DeleteOK. YOU MADE ME REALIZE I'VE GOT A CHICKEN I HAVEN'T PAINTED IN FIVE YEARS. IT'S RIGHT AT MY FRONT DOOR SO I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO GET AT IT AND MAKE HER YOUNG AGAIN WITH A COAT OR TWO OF PAINT. I STOLE IT FROM MY BROTHERS HOUSE A FEW YEARS AGO. WE'RE KNOW TO WANTING EACH OTHERS THINGS. IT'S A GAME WE PLAY.
ReplyDeleteTHANKS FOR SHARING I LOVE THE COLOR OF YOUR FROG. GOOD JOB.

We have a black ceramic Scotty in the back yard in honor of one of our former pets. His fur was brindle in color though. I felt like painting over that but the sun's natural light actually softened up the black paint as well as weather, now it kind of looks like brindle, lol. Funny how nature works in mysterious ways.
