SpringColour 2011. May Is Shaping Up Just Fine.

First year for these hybrid bearded Iris. Can you say GORGEOUS? : ) All images clickable to enlarge.

Lime and Raspberry Petunias, a new color blend for 2011! Planted with a pink verbena, a couple of young bush beans and a dark purple tradescanthia I wintered over. They're pale lavender/green now, but will darken as soon as they start growing more.

My front steps as of this morning. Pansies, Dianthus, Dusty Miller and Perilla in mix-n-match ceramic pots.

The new garden globe and emerging Siberian Iris. My Day lily leaves are almost 3 feet tall already.

I transplanted these German iris several years ago, and this is the first year they've bloomed.

Automobile's June issue is on newsstands right now. My first print-published automotive renderings can be held in your hands, taken on an airplane, perused over a cup of coffee at your favorite coffeeshop, or just carried around in your backpack and shown to anyone that even looks your way—which is what I do, lol. My Bentley GTC is on page 49, the Cadillac ATS is on page 52, and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is on page 68. I even have a letter-to-the-editor published on page 36, a tribute to the late, great, Davie E. Davis, Jr. Buy one, buy ten, and enjoy! I'll wait a few more weeks to post the cars themselves, until the next issue is on the stands.

Mega SpringColour Post, Early May 2011

 A clump of grass, an island in a spring swamp. The zoom lens and rippled water created an almost Impressionist painting feel to this digital image. All photos clickable to enlarge.

Not a good forsythia year, hopefully this bush will fill out by next year.

Skunk cabbages, Symplocarpus foetidus, line the edges of this spring swamp. Sky reflected nicely in the water. "Peepers" in this swamp have been singing since March, such a Spring sound.

My garden-within-a-garden has Hosta, Siberian Iris, Tiger Lilies, Day Lilies, Spiderwort, Sedum, Lily-of-the-Valley and wild Violets. 

Spring green of the earliest leaves goes beautifully with the multiple blues in the sky.

Top of the aforementioned Azalea. The magenta flowers, bright blue sky and spring green leaves remind me of impressionist colors.

One of my family "heirloom" primroses has been moved multiple times wherever I have lived and is a joy to see bloom each spring.
