Standing Guard, In the Morning Light

Standing Guard
Looking down at his mate at June's bird feeder, "papa" Cardinal stands guard. Each bird takes their turn perching in this tree as the other one feeds. I'm pleased to have 6-7 pairs of Cardinals live on the property. They're my favorite birds. Click on images to enlarge.

In the Morning Light
This violet, which has completely grown out of my violet "forest" and is now vertically situated on the outside of the pot, is highlighted by the morning sun streaming in through my east windows. The buds should be opening up fully in a few days. Note the white "colonnade" GTO on the glass shelf below it. That series of GTO was only offered in 1973. I love Johnny Lightning's choices of odd cars to immortalize as scale models.

  4. St. Louis cardinal or not, I won't get in the middle of THIS baseball war, lol.
I'm a avid bird watcher myself. Having a pond in my yard attracts the best of them. The bittersweet is a big draw in the winter too, always providing them with something to eat. I'll have to hire a seasoned gardener I know to recreate the necessary environment in my new place. Hmmm, what are you doing this summer Casey?

  5. Hmmm...X, do you think Casey owns a Met's cap? I will have to remember to post a pic of me bleeding Cubbie BLUE on opening day of baseball season.

  6. I would say no on the cap.
Since you would only be able to attend a NIGHT game, the blue might be difficult to see, lol !

  7. yes, I own a Mets cap. BUT I've never worn it. I'm not a baseball cap type of guy. My nickname is from Casey Stengel, the Mets' first manager, although he was manager of the Yankees when I was born.

  8. Thank U SO much everyone for your prayers ad thoughts. Mom is hanging on but has some heart issues and 20 lbs of excess fluid which are detaining her first surgery. We are hoping surgery on Monday but could be as late as Thursday. They tried a ventilator type mask today to help push fluid out of the lungs. It was the cause of much anxiety but she is looking a bit better.
Don't know if I can post at Caseys but was so touched by his post for me. I also got paul's wishes from Casey. Could someone please let him know that I saw the blog but can be a pain posting on my phone. Please continue praying...PLEASE!!!
    Hugs to all
