On Newsstands Now!

Automobile's June issue is on newsstands right now. My first print-published automotive renderings can be held in your hands, taken on an airplane, perused over a cup of coffee at your favorite coffeeshop, or just carried around in your backpack and shown to anyone that even looks your way—which is what I do, lol. My Bentley GTC is on page 49, the Cadillac ATS is on page 52, and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is on page 68. I even have a letter-to-the-editor published on page 36, a tribute to the late, great, Davie E. Davis, Jr. Buy one, buy ten, and enjoy! I'll wait a few more weeks to post the cars themselves, until the next issue is on the stands.

I'd like to thank Eric Tingwall, Associate Editor, for finding me and giving me this opportunity to reach their large readership. And I'd like to thank Peter De Lorenzo, the Autoextremist, for putting Eric in contact with me. I had so much fun doing these renderings!

  1. Congratulations and just purchased a copy yesterday! It was also the last copy on the shelf, meaning more people are aware of Casey's spectacular work! I'm still debating whih chop I like the most: Bentely, Caddy or the Jeep.

  5. Thank you, Katie, Granny and Mare! On each page with the car you'll find my name/credit in the spine if you really flatten the book out. The cars are used small, but that's the size that was best for print resolution. I'll have to find a source for better resolution base photos if I ever do print work again.

I've placed an open magazine on my late mother's black Hitchcock rocking chair so she can "see" I've done something with this part of my life, lol. That's the chair that just starts to rock on its own sometimes, not a lot, but enough to notice!

  6. Hi Casey - It's Joe (Yet Another One) from JMG. Just wanted to say I enjoy your blog, your art, and especially your car stuff.

  7. Joe 2, lol, thank you so much for visiting and commenting! It's been a rough couple of days at good ol' JMG! If you like my car stuff, please check out my second blog. It's only for my fake cars. I don't update if often, only when I do a new car. I'm going to take a few weeks soon and work on only funstuff, so you might see some new stuff there soon.

  19. It was a condolence letter for their founder and editor emeritus, David E. Davis, Jr, who died the weekend I was working on their cars. I'll post the car photos they used, and my short letter, as soon as their next issue is out. That was the agreement with them. Just a couple more weeks!

  20. In "a couple weeks"? Isn't that optimistic of you Casey? :) 6pm is less than 6 hours away in our time zone!!

I read at JMG that someone in New Zealand had already seen 6pm come and go, sadly, lol. I'm making fresh cheddar cheese crackers for the afterparty tonight!

  23. I haven't planted my vegetables yet, I'm a bit late. My perennial flowers are coming up, but I haven't planted dahlias ore zinnias yet either. It's been raining for weeks and every day next week is predicted for rain. I hope I get to it all soon.

  24. I was reading Peter De Lorenzo's rant of May 25 and this comment jumped out at me:

"Some kids today don’t associate cars with fun because the only experience they’ve had with them is being carted around to myriad appointments, school functions and other mundane tasks that have about as much appeal as a root canal."

Gosh, looking back to guys in the '50, cars were first in their life, then came girls...

They were saving every penny for a car or something for THEIR car, tinkering, talking... it was cars and more cars. I think Peter makes a point, cars have ceased to be a fun thing for kids instead it is something they get strapped into for hours on end each day.

  25. thanks for the comment! I think you both make great points. Kids don't LOVE cars like previous generations. It's the same with baseball. I've been gungho about cars my entire life.

  26. BACK IN THE FIFTY ONLY THE RICH KID HAD A CAR. IF THE AVG KID WANTED A CAR HE WORKED FOR IT. IN MY SENIOR YEAR,I DON'T THINK 4 OR 5BOYS HAD A CAR. I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER A GIRL OWNING A CAR. THE BOYS BORROWED THEIR DADS FOR FRIDAY NIGHT DATES. ALOT MORE FUN BACK THEN ALSO.

  27. The boys I went to school with in the '50's weren't rich, they worked and saved every penny for a car. They bought old cars and fixed them up. Cars were their life.

  28. OK, how far off am I on your birthday? I know, I know...you don't celebrate it, BUT, we are happy you're here and you NEED to be celebrated! lol
The 26th sounds about right..but that is a TOTAL guess! :)
Hope whenever it is, you have a wonderful day (month and year!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU CASEY...(whenever it is :)

  29. very close. thank you, mare! but honestly, I don't celebrate it. I'm still trying to figure out why "Only the good die young." At this point that ship has sailed. I thought I was pretty good when I was young, and never dreamed I'd ever turn 54. So many good people I've known have never gotten here. I think "Why me?" a lot.

My father would have been 90 last Sunday. He died 25 years ago.
