Frequent visitors at Pink Gardens, a family of white tail deer stop by almost every afternoon foraging for leaves and nuts and berries. Their "posse" consists of mom and three offspring.
The young ones are almost the size of adults now—this is one of the youngsters daring me to take her photo! As usual in my life, I took the dare.
Showing her eponymous white tail as she bolts off to join her siblings.
* With all due respect to one of the greatest movies of all time, Sunset Boulevard, with Gloria Swanson and William Holden. I really hope this 1950 classic is never remade!
They look very well fed, my dear! Or should I say 'your deer'... lol
ReplyDeleteAgree with your comment on Sunset Boulevard. The first time I saw it I was so in love with William Holden... ah sweet memories.
I guess they do look well fed! They should. We all throw our food scraps out at the edge of the woods near the stream. You can't see them from the house, but that's where most of the critters come from. I think it might be their "Early Bird" special in the afternoons, lol. I always seem to buy more lettuce than I eat.
ReplyDeleteTHEY LOVE CHICKEN SCRATCH. NEVER COST MUCH AT THE FARM STORES. BIRDS LOVE IT ALSO.YOU DO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL BECAUSE DEERS WILL ATTACK. GREAT PICTURES. YOU KNOW ME, LOVE MY NATURE.ALL KINDS.

Any bears that come by to visit? My sister get's her occasional deer visits every few months in her backyard out in PA. I was almost ran over by one making my way up to my dormitory in upstate NY.
ReplyDeleteLove that these beautiful creatures have a safe place to come and just "be"...beautiful white tails...My daughter in law who also lives in Nebraska was about the victim of a "hit and run" by a deer while she was out jogging! lol..they are beautiful...
ReplyDeleteI know you don't celebrate Cmas Casey, but have thought about the bag of goodies your friends have left on your door before and hoping (for your sake) that they appear again this year :)
