WinterColour: Vintage Glassware in the Sun

With today's almost 30 inch bright white snowfall, the light in the apartment seemed twice as much as usual. It's normally brighter in the winter than summer because the trees are bare, but with all that flat white light outside, the ambient sunlight was super bright. All of my vintage glass vases were gleaming with the sun so I took my trusty little camera and held it right up next to the vases on the shelves in the western window. I love the bright and pure colors that I captured. It's less than 10 degrees outside, another side effect of all that bright white snow, all the heat is reflected back up into the air instead of warming the ground.

Enjoy these early February colors from post-Blizzard Charlotte PInk Gardens!

  1. Very nice. My favorite material is blue glass. In fact, I wish my whole house was made of blue glass! Good to see that you're okay after the storm. It was no big deal here.

  2. I KNEW YOU'D COME ACROSS FOR ME. AGAIN YOU OUTDID YOURSELF ON COLOR. LIKE WRITENOW I LOVE BLUE BUT SINCE COMING HERE I'VE LEARNED TO LOVE ALL COLORS. PURPLE, REAL RED, DEEP GREEN, BRIGHT YELLOWS, AND EVEN ORANGE. I DON'T WANT ORANGE AS A DECORATING COLOR BUT I CAN EXCEPT IT IN ARTWORK. I LOVE COLORED GLASS [STAINED BEING MY FAVORITE]. I THINK I TOLD YOU BEFORE HOW I'VE GOT A CHURCH STAINED GLASS WINDOW FROM THE SMALL CHURCH I WAS BROUGHT UP IN. THEY HAD SEVERAL IN THE ATTIC OF THE CHURCH AND THE DUMMIES SOLD THEM FOR $25.00 IN A CHURCH GARAGE SALE. MINE WAS FREE. I GUESS BECAUSE I'M SPECIAL.LOL I COULDN'T BELIEVE THEY SOLD THEM SO CHEAP. SOME WOMEN HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT PRICES.
    THANKS FOR SHARING. GRANNY

  3. Hey there. This is a long shot but I couldn't find your email address on your blog. I found in your archives a few years back this post about the USS Imperator. http://artandcolour.blogspot.com/2010/08/ss-imperatorgerman-luxury-liner-used-to.html
I would love to know more about this souvenir book. Do you have the publication information or title page for the souvenir book? I'm interested in finding a copy (if possible). Thanks!

  4. Wow -- these are just beautiful! And I'll bet Pink Gardens looked beautiful in the snow.

As an aside, I looked up the posting that Martina mentioned above and was reading through the comments and one of them was so knowledgable and interesting and when I got to the signature, it was my comment! I had no idea I was so smart!! I had a good laugh over that.
