Stormy Weather

Nice sunny morning, then thunderstorms in the afternoon.
It began to pour around 1:30 pm, when I shot the photo, above. It's of my front porch steps and a puddle that always forms when it rains on the brick landing. It disappears as soon as it stops raining, but was nicely reflective today. The sky was still fairly bright.

Within a few minutes, the sky turned dark gray, with a greenish tint. It was as dark as it is at 8:30 pm these days. Indoors, had to turn on all the nights I use at night. Then I walked down to the porch and took this shot. This is 2 pm! The day lilies are beginning to really come out, but I'm sure they were a bit confused today!

Meanwhile, Earlier in the Day. . .
My little Lupine is really looking good these days. At least it was just before the rain came. I hope it didn't get crushed. It was raining the proverbial cats-and-dogs.

The pink Geranium is beginning to flower now. This plant is almost 3-feet wide, having wintered-over inside.

Neighbor June's front steps and her fabulous containers, flowers and collection of ceramic shards found in the ground around Pink Gardens. Almost every time you dig in the soil to plant, you find pieces of old pottery, dishes or glass.

  1. I was just thinking about how the weather is getting much stranger each year. Do you buy what's going to happen in 2012?

  2. Absolutely beautiful. Isn't it strange when day become night like that? That's what happened here awhile back when the tornado hit the St. Louis Airport - all of sudden - dark and you have to turn on the lights. Loved the pix. Thanks.

  3. DO you mean the Mayan calendar prediction, Woody? I sort of would like to see something exciting happen on a global level.... we're all gonna die at some point anyway, and we're young enough to enjoy it, lol.

We had a tornado warning a few weeks ago, a really bad storm with a lot of wind, but today was just a good old fashioned summer thunderstorm with lots of rain coming straight down. It made the coolest sound on the porch roof that wraps around the house.

  6. That is one theory about what will happen next year, the other is more profound. An "external force" from either the universe or our planet will bring life long harmony-world peace. I'm not sure if that's true but that's what my friend told me, lol.

  7. I don't know if you believe in extra terrestrial life, but they will be the catalyst behind all of this. Again, this is what my friend has said. It can all be BS, lol.

  8. there has to be life somewhere in the universe besides us. Whether it can get here or not, I'm not sure. I've been reading a lot about multiple universe theory lately. There could be an infinite number of universes besides ours, with different laws of physics. they could very well interact with us at some point... If I have my life to live over again, I might be a scientist!

  10. I have always thought it a bit 'uppity' to think we were the only inhabitants in the universe. 'They' probably think we are quite primitive in the way we behave.

Wouldn't it be fun to be chosen to go for a ride on one of their spaceships? Sign me up.
