Hello Dahlia 5: Hissy Fitz all A-Bloom!

This is the second dahlia variety to bloom this year, Hissy Fitz. It's a really thick, frilly, bright yellow dahlia that's almost a perfect globe shape when all the petals are unfurled. It's like having pom-poms waving in the garden every time I go out there! The flowers are approximately 5 inches wide. These dahlias are the ones I bought earlier this spring from a table in front of a house in town. They weren't labeled correctly, I should have five different colors instead of just two, but for just $1 or $2 for the root corms, I'll go back there next year and get more! Each plant will probably give off 24-30 flowers this season.

Bonus Flower : )
Small though they may be, the magenta morning glories are really beautiful. You can see little dots of white pollen all over the blossoms. The bees LOVE morning glories, and it's almost impossible to take a photo without a bee sitting inside the flower!

  1. Love that name Hissy Fitz. You know Casey you could be your own Buddhist Center - the circle of life that exists right there in your back yard. Good karma...

  2. when I was studying religions, Annie, Buddhism was the closest one to my own core beliefs. The concept of karma just makes so much sense to me. I really try to live my life by always putting "good" stuff out there. When you're a bit "sensitive" like I am though, the tough part is realizing that the bad stuff that comes your way is more a reflection of the person it's coming from rather than yourself. I always internalize it and wonder what I did to deserve it...

WHEN I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE OF PAIN I WAS HAVING IN MY CHEST,I WAS HAVING A MEDICINE PUMPED INTO MY VEINS WHICH MADE MY BODY FEEL FUNNY. ONE OF THE MEN STANDING NEXT TO WHERE I WAS LAYING, I ASKED HIM TO HOLD MY HAND AND SAY A LITTLE PRAYER. HE SAID HE WAS A BUDDIST AND I SAID TO HIM THEN HUM/ PRAYER IS PRAYER. HE SMILE AND HELD MY HAND AND HUMMED. I SAW HIM THE NEXT DAY AS I WAS HAVING MORE TEST AND HE JUST SMILED AT ME . KNOWING ME I PROBABLY BLEW HIM A KISS. WHY BECAUSE THAT'S WHO I AM. LOL GRANNY

  4. It might surprise you Granny (or not) that only 32% of the world population is Christian, leaving 68% believing in another religion, such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism - or the 12% that have no religion at all.

I respect your right to believe as you wish but Christianity is not the only religion out there.

Casey, if you find my remark offensive please feel free to delete, it will not offend me.

  5. Nah, we're all adults here, Annie, with our own thoughts and beliefs. Finding common ground in flowers, vintage items, art, or what have you, is the good part of the blog.
