The scene from Pink Gardens just a few minutes after the snow began yesterday morning. Looking out today, it seems as if we escaped the majority of snow that the rest of the Tri-State area and New England received. I can see perhaps 5-6 inches, although it continues to snow today. We've had massive winds though, with gusts up to 60 mph. There are numerous branches down, and I can feel the wind coming right through the windows and 150 year old walls. I'm going to get back under the covers for a few hours. The wind was howling all night.

We got a LOT of nice snow -- it was snowing horizontally and vertically for a lot of the afternoon and night. Our street has still not been plowed. I love it! We'll be having chicken soup for dinner -- the perfect snow storm meal. I had already taken the day off so I didn't even need to set the alarm. A perfect end to a nice Christmas weekend.

IS IT HRFNER OR IS IT HEFNER? I WOULDN'T WANT TO END THE YEAR WITHOUT MAKING A FEW TYPING ERRORS. DANG FINGERNAILS AND EYES. I GOT TO BLAME IT ON SOMETHING. I KNOW I'M NOT PERFECT. LOL

Sounds like a great snow day for you, Paul! I think what saved us up here was the fact that it was so cold, the snow was really dry and with the massive wind, it seems to have been blown away. I'm not sure where, lol!
ReplyDeleteWell, there's a lot of drifting so we can't tell for sure, but here (about an hour southwest of NYC) we only got about 6 inches of snow. It's 26 degrees out and the streets have been plowed. We lucked out! :) Hubby is out now with the snow blower. When I lived in Boston, we ignored 6 or less inches of snow. Couldn't be bothered as it wasn't a "real" snowfall. LOL My biggest concern is getting the path to the mailbox cleared for the mailman. He's a friend and boy does he bitch about people not clearing out their mailboxes.
ReplyDeleteGRANNY, SORRY IT'S SO COLD THERE. I KNOW WHAT THAT'S LIKE. (GRIN)
Casey yours looks so serene.
Paul, sounds like you're having a lovely day! Do you have a car you'll have to dig out?
Katie
Nope -- no car, no sidewalk to shovel, lots of food and drink in the house. I've done my time shoveling and digging cars out from the snow and, as much as I love snow, I'm glad I don't have to do that any more!

Thanks Paul. We garage both cars so we don't have to dig them out, either. Boy, am I glad! Our front yard is small so the driveway is really short. Kevin just used the snow blower. Last winter our old snow blower broke so I shoveled out half of the driveway and the mailbox and thought it was going to kill me. LOL Hence, new snow blower! (Lived alone in Boston for 14 years. Much shoveling!)
