Seeing Red: Early Morning Light & Curtains

Camera Before Coffee—I woke up uncharacteristically early today, and caught the bright eastern sun making these dark red curtains absolutely glow. Silhouetted, hiding their flaws, this sad geranium and tradescanthia are struggling to make it through to the spring until they can move outdoors, and thrive, once again.

  1. OH CASEY! it's my red!! LOVE IT! Thanks so much! May I ask which direction Pink Gardens faces? I have it pictured facing west..isn't it funny how we assign certain criteria to things we've never seen first hand??
Have a good day..I think of you often and am hoping this year (all 31 days of it) is going better for you...it is the one year anniversary of my mom's passing...we all kind of had a slide for a while..I for one am hoping this year holds better...

  3. Hi Mare, My, I can't believe a whole year has passed. The first year is the hardest. After my mother died, I cried at least once a day for almost exactly a year, then just about on the anniversary I stopped and got through a day without. The tiniest things might set me off that first year, then everything seemed to have a place in my memory.

I have windows on all four sides of the house. The front, which you see when you drive down the road, faces west, as you thought. My front door is on the south, and I have four windows in that direction. I also have three windows facing west, two facing north and one facing east. The southern windows get the most morning sun due to the trees around here.

  4. THanks Casey, I held together for so long and then...WHAM! everyday sometimes all day I would cry..New Years day...that's when it started to let up a bit...A few tears seak up on me and that's ok...Its wonderful to have had so much love for someone that can cause that much hurt.
Your apartment sounds lovely...and the light coming in helps lift the spirits (and the temperatures in the summer LOL)
Have a good one my friend!

  8. He tends to use silhouettes in a lot of his photos and videos. Also if you see his film The American, you notice red being used in certain backgrounds
