Spring Continues 'tho Somewhat Chilly Lately

Even though our record warm temperatures have disappeared, leaving a somewhat "normal-if-a-bit-chilly" Spring, my flowers continue to show their pretty faces... Above, one of my "Bugleweeds" or Ajuga, stands proud next to Pink Gardens, with some of my Lily-of-the-Valley behind it.

The lilacs continue to fill out and to fill the air with their fresh scent.

This little garden plot is in the center of town right in front of our Post Office.

I think the garden club has planted every variety of Pansy there is!

My pink Lily-of-the-Valley hiding among some native ferns. These date back to the 1950s I believe when my grandmother found them in an out-of-the-way garden shop in northern Connecticut. My mother and I have given them to friends since the 1970s and I frequently hear from old friends in the spring to tell me my grandmother's, or my mother's little pink flowers are doing well in their yards. I think it's a great way to be remembered.

B T W :

The "town turtles" continue to enjoy the sunshine and warm waters of the little lake in the center of town. Above, they seem to be enjoying a Happy Hour one late afternoon.

The "long view" of the photo above. As beautiful as it looks here, just out of the frame at the bottom is a ton of garbage—bottles, papercups, plastic, just litter and crap. You can usually see an oilslick on the water as there is a gas station right next door. I really don't understand anyone that can look at such a beautiful ecosystem and be able to throw garbage into it. Once in a while there is a clean up here, but it hasn't happened in quite a while. I think I might try to fashion a long-handled net and see if I can scoop some it out from the boardwalk above.

  1. I quit "litterin'" when Arlo got arrested for it in the 60's or early 70's. LOL

Happy to be seeing your spring flowers again, Casey! And Happy Hour, indeed! Great label for that gathering!

  2. HI PAL, I DON'T THINK I EVER SEEN A PINK LILY OF THE VALLEY. MOMS WERE WHITE. LILACS, LOVE THAT SMELL. I HAD THEM ALSO ALONG MY DRIVEWAY AT MY SUMMER HOME IN N.Y.. I MISS THEM SO SEEING YOURS BRING A SMILE AND MEMORIES. I NEVER LITTER AND CAN'T STAND PEOPLE THAT DO. HAVE YOU EVER STOPPED AT A REDLIGHT AND LOOK DOWN AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT ALL THOSE STINKING CIGARETTES BUTTS. NOTHING MAKES ME MORE UPSET THAN TO SEE OTHER PEOPLES JUNK ALONG THE HIGHWAY. SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST PIGS. I ALWAY THINK OF THE INDIAN ADD ON TV. THE INDIAN IS RIDING IN A CANOE AND A TEAR DRIPPING DOWN HIS CHEEK BECAUSE OF ALL THE TRASH IN THE WATER AND ON THE BANK. HE DOESN'T HAVE TO SAY A WORD. HIS TEAR SAY IT ALL.I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SO UNTHOUGHTFUL OF OTHERS AND THERE FEELINGS. THEN YOU ALSO SAID SOMETHING ABOUT GAS FLIM ON THE WATER. TO ME, THERE'S NO EXCUSE. THE PEOPLE CAUSING THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE FINED PERIOD. JUST MAYBE YOU SHOULD REPORT IT TO THE TOWN.THE PANSIES ARE JUST BEAUTIFUL. LOVE THEIR LITTLE FACES.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE.
