Two More from the Alternate Universe

Going through one of my hard drives today, I came across two more of my "small large" cars. I did these several years ago, they're quite low-resolution and crude. The top image shows a 1962 Cadillac Coupe de Ville with my lite treatment: shorter overhangs and wheelbases on standard bodies. Above is a  '65 Buick Wildcat, sorely in need of a restoration. I really enjoy creating chops of junked cars. I'd say 99% of the other choppers out there only work on new cars. I enjoy the challenge of reordering the pixels of a beat-up car to make it into one of my creations. Even my signature needs restoration in the Buick chop. : )

My first post of miniaturized domestic cars.

  2. I thought for a moment the Beige/light color Caddy was a Ford Falcon. Your mini wonders are really cool!

  3. I think Woody's observation that the Cadillac looks like a Falcon is hilarious -- it really does look like a 63 Falcon when they introduced the "Thunderbird" roof line to Falcon sedans. There was a late 62 Falcon -- a fancy two-door -- that used it as well. I know it had the interior of the Futura (bucket seats and mini-console) but had the square roof and had "sports" in its name. Of course, the Cadillac also looks a lot like the short deck Cadillacs of 62/63.

  4. I have a mid-year '62 Ford brochure somewhere. I'll have to find it. I don't remember a Falcon with "Sports" in the name until '66 I think,

  5. I may be wrong about the name, but I knew of two examples of the late 62 Falcon with the Thunderbird roof. One was the wife of a doctor who lived up the street. She had one -- white with a black vinyl roof and red interior. Oddly enough, she traded in a 58 Lincoln 4-door hardtop for it!
When we were shopping for our 63 Falcon stripper two-door, the Ford dealer had a leftover 62 with the Thunderbird roof -- white with a black vinyl roof, black interior and 4 on the floor. That's probably why it was left over! Anyway, I being me, thought that would be a much nicer new ride than a 63 stripper two-door. I believe it might have also been available without the vinyl roof. Those Falcons were really special, and I'd love to have several of them now! Ranchero, sedan delivery (Courier?), two-door wagon, the list could go on!

I'll have to look in the Car Spotter and the Standard Catalog to see what the name of that mid-year model was. Stay tuned!

  6. Paul- I am glad you enjoyed the picture, but I only know about this car after my dad telling me about his first encounter with one of those ladies of the night in one of these..lol

Sorry Casey, not trying to make a mockery here. :)-
