Digging in the Archives: Coupes of the Two-, Three-, and Four-Door Persuasions

Gee, a coupe with only two doors, whodathunkit? Besides the deletion of two extra doors and its B pillar, I've moved the front wheels forward 6 inches on this Passat for a better (imho) front wheel axle-to-steering wheel proportion. Chop from 2008 when the CC first arrived on our shores.

A few days ago I posted my version of a new VW Corrado. This is my chop of its little brother, the raucous Scirocco, using its tried-and-true formula of being a lowered and sportified Golf. If I had done this chop recently, I don't think I would have rounded the taillights so much—they sort of clash with the classic Scirocco angular greenhouse, but it definitely has that eager-little-puppy stance that the original Giugiaro design emphasized. This chop dates to 2007 I believe.

Honda Accord 4 door coupe. I chopped this 'sedan' when the current Accord concepts first made the show circuit, late 2007. Let's just say the rear seats are very low, lol. As had been their practice, I knew Honda's coupe would have a separate body from its sedan counterpart, so I decided to go the other way and make the sedan from the coupe. This chop was only 600 pixels wide, and pretty 'webby' and pixelated when I enlarged it to 1,000 for this blog. The wheels looked especially crappy, so I did a quick update with new Nissan Juke wheels. I've recently read that Honda is actually working on a 4 door coupe concept, but I'm 100% sure it will look absolutely nothing like this.

Woody's site has a mention of the upcoming Accord 4 door coupe.

  2. Hi TampaGranny!
I'm glad you found my blog too. I recognize you from Ross's blog too! You wrote at Mare's that your husband was doing stuff around the house you'd rather he didn't at his age. Sounds just like my late Dad! You just can't stop a man from doing what he feels he has to around his house! You both sound like great people. Hope you check my blog out again. Besides the cars, I post a lot about my late family and growing up in an old connecticut family.

    see you again, TG!

  4. always like your comments, TG! I bet that Mazda is very happy to be with you! I know what you mean about keeping your car. I really don't drive much anymore either-until my art is 'discovered' lol. I'm riding my bicycle to save money and help keep the Earth green. I have a lovely big Infiniti sedan and I start it everyday and drive around town once a week just to keep it going. I should sell it, but it's the best car I've ever owned so I keep it for better days ahead!

  5. Great stuff Casey.

The Passat is a natural. I bet we see it someday, the CC2 maybe? That style of car is exactly what Ford and Lincoln need. The Lincoln Mark 9 and it's little brother, the Ford Torino. [You know I loved your last TBird but I'd like to see that car be called a Torino instead and have the TBird be a retractable hardtop roadster.

This Corrado chop is exactly what I saw when you posted your last stretched Scirocco chop. This car has PERFECT dimensions.

Now saving the best for last...

That Accord is so evolutionary that its almost an entire new model & brand. Seriously. Fantastic C Pillars and with the black roof they make such a statement. Question: Where did the rear tail lights come from? Did you chop this from a show car? They look familiar. I like the headlight look of the tail light alot.

As always... I'm more than impressed.

  6. again, we're on the same wavelength this morning! i've been looking around trying to figure out a new Torino! the last Torino I did was based on the small, upcoming Tesla sedan. Haven't decided what the new one will be yet. Plus, i JUST did an updated Accord 4 door coupe last night, based on the revised 2011 Coupe. It came out really well I think. I'm going to let a site named Woody's Car Site have an 'exclusive' for a week if he decides to use it. (see blog roll for link.) I'll post it next week if he uses it, and this week if he decides not to.

link to my last Torino if you missed it:

  7. oh, this Accord's taillights are modified coupe taillights. I think it was the concept before the production car was announced.
