Family Jewels Take a Hike

Gramma's vintage jewelry and Mother Nature met in my yard this afternoon.

D I G I T A L   P H O T O G R A P H Y — On the spur of the moment, as I bounded outside to take some late afternoon flower shots, I grabbed a couple of my grandmother's brooches which I have kept for all of these decades since her death in 1969. I arranged these pieces on a newly-fallen wren nest, on the sun-bleached leaves of a transplanted Hosta and on a slim, chopped-off tree trunk near the veggie garden. I like the way these images turned out. I might grab a bunch more of these pieces tomorrow afternoon, I've got millions, lol, and do a whole series of 'jewels in the wild.'

  4. And just when you thought you got rid of me Casey......
Love your grandma's brooches - I'm a cobalt blue lover and you presented your pieces wonderfully - especially like the wren nest - I appreciate all the work or feathered friends put into them and it saddens me to see one fall to the ground.

  5. thanks TG!

hope you keep checking in, Keith! you're right about the wren next. apparently each male builds a few of them, and the female picks the next she likes. the others are often the ones you find on the ground, like this one. my friend and neighbor, June, taught me that factoid the other day.
