Using Photoshop for the Good

Example of photo retouching using Photoshop CS4. This 5x7 portrait, damaged by water, the emulsion torn off in areas, and scanned through a slightly age-tinted clear plastic album sleeve, was sent to me recently to see what I could do with it. I worked at a very high resolution to restore the missing areas and to adjust the color and contrast levels etc. I added a slight 'linen' texture to everything but the face to give a decent look to the final image.

This composite image is web resolution and shows the scan as I got it on the left, and what I was able to do with it. The final version to be printed looks much better than the 'after' image here, but you can see how powerful Photoshop software can be.

I like working on stuff like this It seems a bit more 'meaningful' than just working on my fake cars or garden photos.

I DID LIKE WHAT YOU DID WITH THE PHOTO AND THE MANS' PICTURE WASN'T HALF BAD EITHER. AS I TELL GRAMPS, I'M NOT DEAD YET. LOL
