Red, White and Blue; Not a Domestic In Sight

How about a shorter 2+2 coupe based on the longer RX-8 "four-door?" I've always loved little notchbacks more than fastbacks.

An Alfa-Romeo Abarth hot hatch, a flying wedge if I ever saw one. The wrapped rear glass in the hatch adds some light and visibility, to the otherwise "private" interior due to the radically chopped top.

A Passat with more historic VW styling cues from the mid '80s. I added a sixth side window to lighten up the cabin a la the '70s VW Dashers and later Quantums and Passats. Click on 'Read More" to see the  mid '80s Passat I based my new front end on. I think that series of VW is one of its most cleanly styled cars in its long history. (I'm only jumping to another page so I don't ruin the Red/White/Blue theme. This IS a visual blog after all, lol)

Not a bit of frill or extraneous trim on this cleanly-styled mid '80s Passat wagon.

  1. I really like the Mk 5 Passats as well, the ones based on the A4. I think they were the generation before the current one.

They were very cleanly styled and still look quite handsome, especially the wagon.

OT but the same is true of the Subaru Legacy. I like the previous version - very clean, attractive cars. Again best looking in wagon form.

  3. I'll get on that right away, Granny. Check your driveway in the morning!

If I had money like Madonna, or some other mega millionaire, instead of constant plastic surgery I would surprise people, even strangers, with gifts like that. I would probably hire an assistant to read local newspapers around the country and find stories about people in need of relatively small things like a reliable economy car or a year's mortgage so they didn't lose their homes and could get their feet back on the ground, and I'd just take care of it. Wouldn't that just be so much fun to do?

  4. I like all three of your patriotic mix, and certainly feel each is production ready, but I'm drawn to the Alfa Romeo. It looks fast standing still. I love how you incorporated your "bent" glass into the rear hatch. This car feels like the spiritual successor to my 83 GTI. Fast, fun, & economical.

I love your "Madonna" sentiments - giving is always fun.

  5. I WOULD NOT WANT MILLIONS.TO MUCH WORK KEEPING TRACK OD ALL THE PENNIES. OH THAT'S RIGHT ALL I HAVE TO DO IS LOOK DOWN. LOL. BUT I STILL WOULDN'T WANT THAT KIND OF MONEY BUT OVER THE YEARS I HAD THOUGHTS LIKE YOUR CASEY. BEING THAT I'VE ALWAYS WAS A GIVER THERE'RE MANY THINGS I WOULD DO IF I HAD THAT KIND OF MONEY. IT WOULD BE GIVEN TO THE REAL NEEDY NOT THE LOAFERS. I'LL NEVER HAVE TO GET EXCITED ABOUT GIVING THAT KIND OF MONEY AWAY BECAUSE I'LL NEVER AFTER A MILLION. IF ANYONE LEAVES ME A MILLION CASEY THEN YOUR IN THE WILL. LOL

  7. I'm a massive massive mazda fan, so I really hate to say it, but I dislike what you did to the RX8.

The suicide doors were the best part of the design, also you got rid of the wraparound design of the rear glass.

    I applaude your efforts though.

  8. Hey Baji! Sorry you've had trouble when commenting, per you other message. I'm not sure what to say. I'm glad you kept trying.

And thanks for the Mazda comment. If everyone liked everything I did, I'd be worried! Chopping is so personal, I just do what I'd like to see rather than what I think Mazda will, or should, do, so i don't expect everyone to like them. The important thing is to keep checking in and letting me know! I'm getting 'tired' of posting at chop sites, so I might just post here from now on. That's how I feel right now anyway!
