When is a Sunflower a Lemon?

When it's a Lemon Sunflower, duh! The first of my sunflowers is fully open now, and is a pretty buttery-lemon yellow. The flower is about 9 inches wide and the stalk is a little more than six feet tall with two more buds to come.

  1. Aren't they amazing and SO HAPPY!!!

  2. I've never grown sunflowers before this year either. They were finicky to start with, I must have lost 6 or 7 of them, but once they got to about 2 feet tall, they grew thicker and stronger. Next year I'm going to plant a couple dozen of them to make sure I have several reach maturity. I love the paler versions, like this lemon one. I've seen some almost white, which I'll try to find too.
