Through the Garden Gate

Looking through the hummingbird cutout in the reclaimed cedar garden gate, the cutting flower section is visible. This is where many of the zinnias are located. as well as cosmos (which have yet to bloom) and the sunflowers, which are just starting to flower. You can also see the aluminum tube that surrounds one of the garden posts to keep crawling critters from climbing up to the birdhouse affixed to the post. The door was salvaged from a tear-down, cut almost in half for its new exterior use, and arched with a cool peak in the center. I traced the outline of a hummingbird on the wood and it was expertly cut out by our trusty friend, landscaper and all-around handy man good guy, Angelo. You know, click to enlarge!

  1. So cool...you are blessed to be surrounded by such neat things...if you ever have to move I'm sure there are many things you would miss. I always think of that as I have a hard time getting attached to where I live because it seems I always wind up moving and it can be hard to leave things so I protect myself by trying to not become too attached...although you have a bitter sweet memory of some things in particular.

, I DON'T REMEMBER BUT I DO REMEMBER LOOKING FOR SNAKES AND SPIDERS BEFORE GOING INTO THAT 4 HOLE OUTHOUSE. I'D RATHER LOOK INTO YOUR GARDEN.

I MISSED YOU YESTERDAY BUT I BET YOU WERE FOR IN YOUR GLORY TAKING ALL THOSE PICTURES. GO CASEY.

  3. The first fifty years of my life was spent in collecting things, the last twenty years I put it in reverse. Casey, you would sob great tears at what I have given away over the past few years, but when you go from house to cottage to condo the space gets smaller and smaller. I try not to think of what was and focus on today and the joy people like you bring me, all without visible clutter.

I'm going to sneak off to a movie today - 'Inception'. I always say sneak when it's during the weekday, like I should be a work and not at play. I will wear my dark glasses in/out of the theater just in case someone is watching. lol

Hi everyone, have a great day too!

  4. CASEY, I MOVED BACK INTO A 4 BEDROOM HOUSE BECAUSE I TOO HAVE TO MUCH STUFF. MY DAUGHTER AND HER PAL GOT RID OF HALF OF MY KITCHEN AND NOW WHEN I NEED CERTAIN THINGS THEIR GONE. SHE THREW OUT SO MUCH AND I LET HER. I TOLD THEM IF I LOOKED INTO THE BOX FULL OF THE GOODWILL THINGS I'D TAKE THEM BACK. YES, I GOT RID OF ALOT OF THINGS BUT NOT THE IMPORTANT THINGS EXCEPT FOR THE KITCHEN. WHEN THEY WERE PACKING THE KITCHEN AND I SAT IN MY LAZYBOY CHAIR IN THE LIVINGROOM, I COULD HEAR THEM SAY, OH, SHE DON'T NEED THIS, OH, SHE DON'T NEED THAT. I SHOULD HAVE WENT OUT IN THE KITCHEN TO SEE WHAT THEY WERE THROWING AWAY. IT'S WAY TO FUNNY WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT.THE PAL IS LIKE ANOTHER DAUGHTER TO ME. YOU HAVE TO LOVE THOSE GIRLS. I NEVER COULD HAVE MOVED IF IT WASN'T FOR THEM.
