Early 1950s Japanese Baseball Jackets, Satin and Velvet
I have several of these circa 1951 Japanese baseball-type jackets. Most of them are velvet on one side, and quilted satin on the other, although a couple of them are satin on both sides. They're reversible, with either side being suitable for the 'exterior' with no labels or unfinished stitching to be found anywhere. I used to wear these jackets quite often, but the now almost sixty-year old stitching is pulling loose in places, and the elasticized waists and cuffs have seen better days. I may try to frame them instead, but they would have to be visible on both sides, and I'm not sure what I'd do with the sleeves. The craftsmanship of the stitched artwork is really incredible when seen up close. These images are clickable to enlarge of course.
