New Knits Nice-n-Wintry Warm!

My friend Meghan, whom I affectionately call my daughter, made this fantastic scarf for me recently. It's created from a couple of different types of novelty yarns, and is just the warmest and most comfortable thing to have around my neck on a 20° day while walking to get my groceries! Meghan is a prolific knitter, always, always working on a project or three.

And another friend, Kelly, crocheted this great cap for me last week! I love the muted colors in the yarn, and the style of the pattern fits around my head perfectly, clinging at the bottom so it's really, really warm. Kelly's mother, Betsy, has knit me several pairs of socks, too. They're a crafty family!

  3. Hoohoo had a mink coat in the 1960s. I've always wondered what happened to it. Her husband probably threw it out after she died. My mother never went for fur, but then Hoohoo didn't have any kids to feed, except for me a couple of times a week, lol, and I was a dainty/picky eater!

  4. My mom had a fur coat, something she got for a big trip to New Jersey in the winter. After she died my sister-in-law took it and had it restyled. The original was a classic, all of us kids would roar with laughter when she wore it in the "cold" California climate.

Anyway, after the restyling I got the bag of trimmings. lol Finally after hanging on to them for years I did something. I made Old World Santa's for each of my daughter's and my son's wife. The Santa wore a coat trimmed in the fur from my mom's coat. It was a fun project, from making the faces in molds and baking them, to sewing up the outfits and finding little wee toys for Santa's pack. However, dumb me... I never made one for myself. :(

Don't leave your scarf anywhere near me, I will snatch it up. It is beautiful. I wear scarfs in the house even so I can keep the thermostat lower.

  12. Thanks, Mare. No, my friends don't seem to sell their wares. Maybe I'll suggest to them they should!

We're clear right now, but a BIG storm is coming tomorrow night and all day Wednesday. THey're predicting up to 18 inches. yikes. I hope not! It's going to be nice tomorrow though, so I'll go get some fresh stuff to eat and drink. I just finished a HUGE 360 page book so I can relax the next few days. Relax and maybe chop some cars I've been meaning to get around to.

  13. IS THIS THE BOOK YOU SAID THAT MIGHT BE DONE BY CHRISTMAS? THE ONE WE ALL WANTED TO READ.I'M NOT ONE TO SIT AND READ BOOKS ALL THE TIME. IT HAS TO BE AN EASY READ. ONE THAT GOES WITH THE FLOW. IT HAS TO BE EXCITING FROM THE FIRST SENTENCE OR I JUST PUT IT DONE AND NEVER PICK IT UP AGAN. I USED TO THINK READING A BOOK IN LARGE PRINT WAS SO SAD. GUESS WHAT [LARGE PRINT]. IT MIGHT HELP IF I GOT NEW GLASSES.LOL

SORRY IF I DISRUPTED YOUR BLOG YESTERDAY WITH MY WIT AND HUMOR BUT A GIRL HAS TO HAVE FUN. JUST WANTED TO LIGHTEN IT UP IN HERE.

MAKE IT A NICE DAY FOR SOMEONE. I HOPE I DO.

  14. no, unfortunately I haven't had a minute to actually start my own books yet. These are just the books I have to do production work on to pay the rent... I've been kept very busy all fall and winter so far from the publisher I freelance for.
