They Snuck Up On Me

These dark pink violets started blooming while their side of the "violet forest" was facing the sun. I didn't notice them until this morning when I turned around their large, hand-painted pot, so the other side would get more light. The rest of this grouping has a darker, true purple blossom. The leaves of a hanging lipstick plant dip into the photo on the right. As usual, I can't take a photo indoors without some sort of small car being visible. At the bottom right is a red 'late '90s Camaro convertible by Matchbox.

  1. VIOLETS ARE ONE OF MY FAVORITE FLOWERS. I NEVER HAD ANY LUCK WITH THEM. THEY NEED A SPECIAL TOUCH AND PLENTY OF CHIT CHAT. THIS PICTURE MAKES ME WANT TO TRY AGAIN AND SEE IF I CAN GET ONE TO LIVE. YES, I SAW THE LITTLE CAR PEEKING OUT SAYING HERE I AM. SEE ME SEE ME?
COMPUTER TROUBLES FINALLY CAME TO A HEAD A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO. WAY TO MANY THINGS HAD TO BE FIXED ON LINE WITH GRAMPS AND A HP TECH REP.

I FELT LIKE I WAS ON DRUGS AND HAVING A COMPUTER MELTDOWN. WOW. THE POWER BUTTON THIS AFTERNOON WAS LIKE A FIX. LOL NEVER EVER TOOK DRUGS EXCEPT THE DOCTOR MEDS. BUT YESTERDAY I SURE COULD HAVE USED SOMETHING TO QUET ME DOWN. LOL

  4. Hi there..just trying to catch up on "my blogs" after being gone. Could get some things on my phone, but not a lot of luck posting (or maybe just not a lot of PATIENCE to post!)
Thanks for the new pics Casey. While we were at the hospital with my dad it helped more than you know seeing the beautiful pics go past on my cell phone screen..brought a peace..so appreciate that you share with us.
Also, I missed telling you that I wish Aunt Hoohoo a happy birthday as well. She was my age when she passed..seems so young (to ME anyway!!) she must have been SO special and I for one would like to thank her for being a loving support for you. Rest well Aunt Hoohoo...

  7. Welcome back Granny!! Being without a computer drives me absolutely batty! Now, though, I can go online with my cell phone so it's not so bad to be without a computer for a SHORT time. Glad yours is fixed!

    Welcome back, too, Mare!

Casey, I love African Violets and have always had 2 or 3 pots of them in my kitchen window. Do you water yours from the bottom? I have one right now that I need to re-pot. Mine keep throwing new plants!

  8. GOOD MORNING KATIE AND ALL. GOOD QUESTION. DO YOU WATER FROM THE BOTTOM? I ALWAY THOUGHT YOUR SUPPOSE TOO.NO WATER ON LEAVES WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME.

  9. Granny, water on the leaves of African Violets leaves dead spots and if you get much water on them, the whole leaf will die. :)
