Hello Dahlia 2

A better view of one of the "fraternal twins," the pink-and-white bicolor variant. The  petal design of this type of dahlia is mesmerizing to me. The tri-lobed shape of the petals is really distinctive, and the way the color fades outwards from the center is the essence of art. I also love the way the inner petals curl inwards to form cylinders until it's time for them open and unfold, making the flower fuller and more of a complete sphere. I'll shoot another photo in a couple of days, and I bet the center is much more open.

Make sure you click this one open to see it larger!

  1. Breathtaking! I hope you use this photo in one of your quilts. By the way, I loved the idea of making a "gameboard" with your blog photos. If Monopoly, this could be Dahlia Lane.

  2. PX, IS THERE A WORD BIGGER THAN BREATHTAKING TO DESCRIBE THIS FLOWER. I DON'T THINK SO. GRAMPS IS SITTING HERE DRINKING HIS COFFEE AND READING HIS PAPER. I JUST TOLD HIM WHEN I GET DONE READING HOW CASEY WRITES ABOUT A FLOWER THE ONLY THING LEFT IS WANTING TO SMELL IT. IT LEAVES ME DISAPPOINTED SO WHAT I'M GOING TO DO IS BUY A BOTTLE OF FLORAL PERFUME AND SPRITES IT IN THE AIR.SEE WHY I LOVE NATURE.THIS FLOWER IS PERFECT.

TIME FOR CHURCH IN ANOTHER HOUR SO THIS RELIGIOUS PERSON HAS TO GET READY.LOL. I HAVE TO FIND MY HAT, GLOVES AND HIGH HEELS SO I LOOK PROPER AS I SIT HERE IN FRONT OF THE TV WITH MY PJ'S ON WATCHING THE SERVICE. I MAY EVEN PUT ON A STRING OF PEARLS.

WAS IT MARIUS OR PX THAT WAS GOING TO TRAVEL FOR A YEAR? MAYBE IT WAS MARIUS.COULD BE HE STARTED HIS ADVENTURE. JUST SEEM FUNNY HE HASN'T CHECKED IN.

WOODY ARE YOU PEEKING? DID I EVER TELL YOU THAT YOU LOOK LIKE A MOVIE STAR. THE ONE I'M THINKING ABOUT I CAN'T REMEMBER HIS NAME BUT HECK I CAN'T REMEMBER MY OWN NAME SOMEDAYS. LOL

A GOOD MORNING HUG TO YOU CASEY FOR DOING ALL YOU DO ON HERE EVERYDAY TO MAKE OUR DAY BRIGHTER.
    LOVE YOU FOR IT.

  3. When I lived in Corona del Mar, CA our street names were flowers and ran alphabetically: Acacia, Begonia, Carnation, Dahlia, Fernleaf, Goldenrod, Heliotrope, Iris,Jasmine,Larkspur,Marguerite,
Marigold, Narcissus, Orchid, Poinsettia and Poppy.

Later Avocado was added before Acacia but we never had an E. The little town wasn't long enough for any more streets after Poppy. Sometime later as the town expanded eastward and away from the ocean I see that a small areas was built and named three streets there Geranium, Daffodil and Lilac.

The cross streets were easy as well Ocean Blvd., Seaview Ave., Bayside Dr. and First Ave. through Fifth Avenue after you crossed over Pacific Coast Hwy.

Wonderful little town in the 30, 40, 50's, filled with summer people from June to September and then it became almost a ghost town during the winter months with a spike at Spring Break until Palm Springs became the place to go.
