Zest of Zinnia and Hello Dahlia 4

The yellow filaments in the center portion of this red zinnia remind me of the zest of a lemon peel. I love the way they look like a wreathe wrapping around the center, and the way the petals haven't quite fully unfurled. Click to enlarge and see if they remind you of a gourmet salad, too!

The red and yellow dahlia blooms grow larger every day. As they mature, they change from bright red and bright yellow, to an almost overall orange color. This one is midway through the process. This is the only bloom with those shorter, squatter petals in the center, though. I'm having a lot of unique dahlia flowers this year! There is an additional surprise with the "Fraternal Twins" progress. Stay tuned!
