Pillarless coupe LS by Lexus. Long-wheelbase platform of the 600l/h is utilized with the cabin set back a full eight inches for better weight distribution with the LFA's V10. Stretch-out interior room for four, accessible through the two wide-opening front doors and two rear-opening access hatches, powered opening and soft-closing. Upgraded hybrid drivetrain and advanced Parking Assist standard, as is every electronic convenience in Lexus's parts bins. Coupe is slightly longer and lower than the sedan, and approximately 20% more expensive than the LS600L/h. This is a more stylized rendering than the pillared LS coupe below, but I felt the V10 and long wheelbase demanded a bit of drama. I try to demand a bit of drama out of every day, lol.
A quick second prototype. The door handles have been moved down a couple of inches and a satin chrome molding highlights the big car's new curvy "hips."
This is perfect! Love it! Now use this as the basis for a new Lincoln MKS - and you'll be on to something!
ReplyDeleteOr better yet, a Mark IX !
ReplyDeleteYou're fast tonight!
ReplyDeleteStill thinking of what I could do for an MKS. maybe the Jaguar XF.
NO ! They all look like they were designed by the same guy - use something completely different ! That's Lincoln's whole problem, they don't stand out from the crowd. I don't want a 50K car that looks like every other car on the road. Remember the slogan for the 1971 Thunderbird - "Individuality"
ReplyDeleteHow about the ultimate in "Individuality?"

Too radical?
I've never heard of this 1971 Thunderbird you speak of. was it a front wheel drive economy car?
ReplyDeletehahahaha.
OK, I give up. I've mortgaged the condo and bought a car. Only problem is I now have to live in it.

Have a good night all.....
Marius, that "Dale" was more than meets the eye !
ReplyDeleteCasey, YES ! It was the Ford version of the Mercury Lynx!
Suprised you couldn't remember.
Marius! Is that the Dale? I remember that story from the first time around. I want to say Carmichael too, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteFresh from Wiki, my memory is pretty good for old stuff like this:

Thanks for that little jog tonight!
that sounds like a chop, the Tbird version of the Escort platform. I did a trippy little Imperial once, on that little Dodge Hornet concept that was supposed to be built in China. Don't think it's worth posting, lol.
ReplyDeleteThat was "her" name - Dale Carmichael
ReplyDeleteNice pick, Annie, Now you need some boy toy arm candy to ride shotgun. GASP!
ReplyDeleteYou could do a Tbird version of the ZX2 - but I'm not sure I'd want to see that either!
ReplyDeletenot Gaspard again !
ReplyDeleteSorry, PX, I got anothe Gasp. video today. It'll pass.
ReplyDeleteAnyway,
'71 TBird "Individuality"

Marius, you should start a fan club for him - or just marry him and get it over with ! lol
ReplyDeletewho's Gaspard? sounds like an artistic Rasputin.
ReplyDeleteOy, it's and ongoing thing that started with Marius, Annie, and me.
ReplyDeleteHe's MINE....back off boys!
ReplyDeleteGasp's Chanel Blue commercial is getting lots of air time at the US Open.
Don't worry Annie!
ReplyDeleteA deal is a deal!
;) You're a good man Charlie Brown...
ReplyDeleteWell I'm off to beddy-bye, take care all and sweet dreams.
CU tomorrow.
Casey,
ReplyDeleteSorry...We're running wild on your blog. Shall I attempt a "Werner Buhrer" on your design?
PX, I'm not the marrying kind, My gaze would start to wander after the ceremony, unless we kept the arrangement to separate continents.
I'm technically still married to someone else anyway. Late 70s.
Casey,
ReplyDeleteNow that's a pillarless coupe! Is it a four-door? It looks like a door handles aft of the door but I can't see a cut line. Is that just a continuation of the molding that incorporates the handle? A pillarless four door with no B pillar would be hot. I know Lancia did it with some Flaminias and the Eldorado Brougham of 57 and 58 did it. I think a couple of the Motorama cars did it too -- the Chevrolet Biscayne? The Cadillac (can't remember the name) that was a preview of the 57 models did it too, I think. But two-door or four-door, this coupe looks amazing!!
Paul, NYC
ALRIGHT, TODAY IS SAT. LET GO CRUISING TODAY AND SEE IF WE CAN CATCH SOME WAVES. LOVE THIS CAR AS LONG AS IT HAS A FOOTREST ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. I DON'T KNOW WHY CARS DON'T COME WITH FOOTREST. SOME OF US ARE HOMEBOUND AND CAN'T GO ON TRIPS BECAUSE WE HAVE TO ELEVATE OUR LEGS. [MAYBE SPECIAL ORDER] HAVE FUN WITH YOUR CARS TODAY GUYS. I'LL JUST PEEK.
ReplyDeleteWOULD YOU BELIEVE I JUST BROKE A PART OFF MY GLASSES. D///.
GRANNY LOU
Paul, yes, it's pillarless and a 4 door, but the rear doors would be suicide and 1/2 size, only open after the fronts were opened. On one of my monitors it's too dark to see the cutlines, but on my other one you can see them. They're there! : )
ReplyDeleteI tried a few with a chrome or satin molding flying off the door handles going over the newly-rounded hips to the taillights, but I couldn't get it to look elegant, it always looked ham-fisted, but I continue to strive to return brightwork to bodysides!
yes, we'll have leg rests in the Lexus, Granny! I remember old Cadillacs with footrests in the back seat. : )
ReplyDeleteBoy, this is a tough call. Really looks good both ways. Maybe the moulding can be part of a more expensive trim package.
ReplyDeletethere will be a Boca Raton edition with the gold package. : )
ReplyDeleteGood Morning guys, I'm full of vim and vigor this a.m. and decided to post my own car blog today. Comments appreciated...

Off to watch tennis now, have a great day.... all.
Gotta love that bling! At least then it will be a NEW Lexus, lol
